The reason for this article: This website is about exposing corruption in all aspects of the media. Throughout my entire career I had nothing but positive experiences in my journey in the radio and TV media with KDRV Channel 12 being the lone black mark.

It was such a bizarre world of twisted lies and astoundingly idiotic leadership with one incompetent Mark Hatfield at the helm, I felt like it needed to be addressed on an international level for the world to see.
The person who hired me was named Renard Maiuri.
Now, I didn't get to work with him for too long because shortly after I was hired he resigned and the stooge of the hour named Mark Hatfield took the helm.
Hatfield was a disaster! He was a no talent loser that didn't have a clue how to run a newsroom and much less manage people.
Hatfield was as unprofessional as they come and was so backward with people it seemed like he had severe mental and psychological disabilities along with inappropriate behavior problems as I will document below. One bizarre issue was telling a reporter he was a virgin.
I mean, who does something that bizarre in any workplace? This is exactly the kind of behavior as to why Hatfield is still in such a small market at such an advanced age. This P.O.S. even once tried to threaten me by "not having my contract renewed"
Well, that would have been a fun lawsuit for me that I would have won, but it just wasn't worth it in the end to stay there and deal with Hatfield and his ugly mug everyday.
Hopefully, this report will awake people as to how television really works in small markets and will expose the corruption in stations like KDRV TV in Medford, Oregon.
The fact is, I know that losers like Hatfield have given people bad references just because they are not his cup of slimy tea. I suspect he may have done that with me at least once.
But, I think it's important to expose who the real scum of the earth is and no one stinks higher than Hatfield and I think it's important that young aspiring journalists not get caught up with lying, two faced creeps like Mark Hatfield**

Well, let it be known, we will always be posting updates from people and former employees who can tell the truth about what a failure this Hatfield dude was. Case in point. Shortly after I moved from Colorado to take this terrible job in Medford. KDRV was still on typewriters and had been switched over to computers.
One day I left the sports office after I had got my scripts in and left to be on the set. I forgot something and came back to the sports office only to find Hatfield at my desk and on my computer. He didn't expect me back. He thought he was being sneaky.
What he was trying to find on my computer I have no idea.
YOU CANNOT TRUST THESE TYPES OF PEOPLE!
In another instance, The weekend guy, Ben Becker, was so horrible that all he got was complaints from viewers. Hatfield liked this guy for some unknown reason, maybe because they were both awkward losers. Anyway, Hatfield was supposed to forward these complaints to his boss, who at the time was Renard Maiuri. But Hatfield didn't do that.
He secretly hid all the complaints and threw them out. Once again, this type of person is never to be trusted. Hatfield was nothing but a two-faced liar.

After a certain set of circumstances, I became the Sports Director with incompetent Mark Hatfield at the helm, it was apparent I had been lied to about this whole charade.

At one time my parents came up to visit and watched this station and I was embarrassed for them at what they looked at.
They looked at an incompetent protege' of Mark Hatfield named Ben Becker make a complete fool of himself promoting Professional Wrestling and with another segment called "Ben's Big Fish" along the same story line.

Everyone in year one journalism knows that when you identify "where" an athlete is from, you talk about where they CURRENTLY LIVE. Everyone knows that.
Tiger Woods was not born in Jupiter, Fl., but that's where he is from.
Sonny Liston (The heavyweight champ in 1964), was from, Denver, Co., even though he wasn't born there. I did an interview with Oregon's Chad Cota who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers. He lived in Medford, Oregon, which I identified him as being from.
Well, dumbass Hatfield called me into his office and tried to convince me that Cota should be listed from (Ashland) even though he didn't live there.
And in his stupid arrogance tried to tell me that I, (not being from Oregon) was at a "disadvantage" because he (Hatfield) "knew too much".
Let's look at that idiotic statement. If he was so knowledgeable, he should be an "advantage" to me. But he looked at it as the opposite.
Why? Because he's an incompetent, idiot who can't manage people and can't figure out simple journalistic facts like "where is athlete is FROM".
I can't stress enough what a moron this guy is and can't fathom why he still has a job. Again, from my perspective, I can only come up with him being completely incompetent as to how he could possibly be this stupid on simple news stories.
No question the worst job I have ever had was when I was the Sports Director at KDRV TV in Medford, Oregon when a highly unqualified, incompetent man named Mark Hatfield was named the News Manager essentially by default.
I went to work for the most unethical, incompetent management I ever had to work with at KDRV. Basically, one year of my professional life was lost working for this unprofessional management at KDRV and Mark Hatfield was the lying stooge of the hour that I had to deal with.
RACIST HISTORY IN OREGON
Little Known Black History Fact: Oregon’s Racist Past which would influence KDRV.
The Pacific Northwest is often seen as a region where racial tolerance might be expected and that opportunities for all Americans might be available.
However, Black residents of the “Beaver State” say Oregon is hiding a racist past and that examples of said racism exists even today.
In 1859, Oregon became a state and issued a statewide law that no "Black person", not even a mixed person, could live there. It was the only free state in the Union that had such a law forbidding Blacks from living there. Naturally, this law was defied and an example of this occurred in the progressive and Eco-friendly city of Portland.
Black businessmen W.D. Allen and George Moore opened the Golden West Hotel in 1906, and it became the center of Black prominence and movement in the state.
The hotel was successful, but buckled under the weight of The Great Depression and shuttered its doors in 1931. It has since been reopened as a historic reminder of Portland’s rich Black past.
Also telling was that the Ku Klux Klan opened a chapter in the state in 1921, and the state law barring Blacks was still in effect.
The law was removed from the books in 1926 but the roots of racism ran far too deeply.

WHY YOU DON'T WANT TO WORK FOR LIAR MARK HATFIELD
Mark Hatfield, News Director at KDRV for years.
He's a Seattle native with a degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma and TV experience in Wenatchee, Spokane and Seattle and some public relations background.
Trust us! Hatfield is a lying, poor excuse for a human being that shouldn't be a mentor for young reporters!! He has his own agenda, he's a liar, he's insecure, he's a horrible human being and hopefully, any new reporter will not be suckered in by this loser who cares about no one but his own selfish agenda...
The homosexual professional wrestling angle (Which KDRV SUPPORTED) will be exposed below. It's been said from more than one reporter in my presence that they don't understand why Hatfield was in bed, (figuratively I'm guessing but who really knows), with his fellow (wrestling buddy Ben Becker) and I think we can figure that out why when you read on.
(I MADE NO ACCUSATIONS HERE, I"M JUST SAYING.....WTF!)
You figure this out!! Especially when you see what Hatfield's buddy, Becker once said on the air (and we kid you not) "If you go black, you never go back."
Hatfield is not presentable for clients who want professionals. He has no knack for issues, he doesn't know "NEWS" and what the viewers want. He has no "people" skills.
He just has no value in the world of television for young talent to learn.
In short, Hatfield has no value for an up and coming reporter.
If he doesn't like you, which is true for any one with talent, he will try to black ball you! Because he's a jealous, no talent loser who does not want people to advance because he can't!!!!
TAKE MY ADVICE! IF YOU HAVE A FIRST JOB! DO NOT WORK AT KDRV!!!
There was a young female reporter/anchor when I was employed at KDRV who was a good talent.
For some reason Hatfield didn't like her (Maybe he hit on her and she wanted no part of it). Anyway, she called me to ask her to be a reference.
I thought she was great and I was a good reference for her. Not too long after that, a News Director in Duluth Minnesota called me and asked what I thought of her.
Of course I gave her glowing references and she actually got the job!!!!
Something that wouldn't have happened if he called liar Hatfield!
Another bizarre comment made from Hatfield's News Anchor in front of all of us (Who is still employed by KDRV, by the way), was "Mark Hatfield probably irons is underwear!"
I have no idea what this means...I don't know.
But I find it curious all these statements were circulating in the newsroom about this toxic moron Mark Hatfield!!
IF YOU ARE A YOUNG REPORTER LOOKING FOR YOUR FIRST JOB, YOU DO NOT WANT TO WORK FOR THIS MAN! HE HAS BEEN KNOWN TO GIVE BAD REFERENCES WHEN YOU GO ON TO TRY TO GET YOUR NEXT JOB.
GIVING A BAD REFERENCE JUST BECAUSE HATFIELD MAY NOT PERSONALLY LIKE SOMEONE IS UNETHICAL AND ILLEGAL!
THE FACT IS, THE PERSON WHO HATFIELD BLACK BALLED MAY DEVELOP INTO A GOOD REPORTER SOMEWHERE ELSE BY WORKING WITH A REAL NEWS DIRECTOR.

When I first walked into the newsroom, I noticed that News Manager Mark Hatfield sported a "Hitler Mustache" (BELOW).

I have worked in the media since 1987.
I have seen many ugly things that the public needs to be aware of.
The main thing I want to get across, is you can't believe what you see on the news, be it local or national.
What I want to do is share my first hand experiences of what really happens behind the News. It's not what you would think.
It's not professional like you may believe and it is for sure not to be taken as the truth.
The fact is, the NEWS is NOT there to inform you.
What you say? Let me put it another way.
The NEWS channels are NOT there to "keep you informed" or to enlighten you as to what is going on in the world around you. SO what is their job? Glad you asked.
They are there to sell advertisements and to make you feel unstable and scared so you tune in again to be exposed to the same advertisements.
That's right, the NEWS is in the ENTERTAINMENT business and NOT the INFORMATION business!
That shouldn't shock you at all.
Because any mind control agency will tell you that "good news" does not sell, but "bad news" does.

That said, let me lead you down the path to "behind the scenes" and what the "NEWS" really is.
h1. I worked at KDRV TV in Medford Oregon in 1996. For ONE year.
I emphasize "one" year because that is all I could take of the incompetent and unprofessional management that was in place when I was there.
I got along with my co-workers, but Management was a whole other ballgame.
They were not to be trusted.
The man that first hired me was the News Director whose name was Renard Maiuri.
He seemed to be somewhat competent and was interested in getting the real story to the people. I found out that was not the case either.
I was first hired as the weekend anchor and a man named Jim Hobbs was doing weekdays. They told me once Jim left, I would be the Sports Director and they would increase my salary too.
Well, Once Jim left, they did make me the Sports Director, but didn't want to increase my pay. Liars!!!
I had to threaten to quit before they came through on their original promise.
Yes, I know...no integrity at all at KDRV!
Well, not long after I was hired by Maiuri, he went on to other things and was replaced by a News Manager named Mark Hatfield. It looks like he's now the General Manager.
HATFIELD THE DISASTER!!!
Hatfield was a disaster! He was inexperienced, didn't understand news and had his own agenda in mind. He was not respected by the newsroom staff.
He was childish and insecure and reminded me of a kid that was picked on all his life and never had any friends but now that he has been given the "power" over legitimate talent, that he was going to use it for his own benefit.
HATFIELD THE CREEPY LOSER THAT COULDN'T BUY NEW CLOTHES
Mark Hatfield was unqualified.
He was a physically creepy guy. He was short, fat, balding, unprofessional and wore the same clothes all the time.
The joke at the newsroom was "what green pullover sweater was he going to wear this week?" He just didn't seem to have a clue when dealing with people.
There was another joke around the newsroom that the only way he could get a women to talk to him was to bring them in for an interview. In short, (no pun intended, he was a joke)
So, you may wonder how people like Hatfield keep their jobs?
Well, it's really very simple. He's the only one they can get. Someone who was a real professional from a large market would not want to live in a one horse town like Medford.
So, that's the problem with getting good people in small markets.
No one wants to go there, so they have to stick with and promote who they already have. Also, Chambers Communications who owned KDRV (at the time) isn't known for their free spending to hire good people.
Hatfield didn't understand news and didn't know a lead story if he fell over it. Just to give you an example, he didn't know the difference between "power lifting" and "bodybuilding".
That should come as no surprise.
The guy obviously never did anything athletically in his life.
I packaged stories, for Medford's own "Power lifting", medalists. Male AND Female. I also packaged "Body Building", Male and Female medalists.
BOTH lived in MEDFORD! But, incompetent Hatfield called me in and said, " No more weightlifting features!"
WHAT AN IDIOT!
Medford had world class athletes in their own backyard for "Body Building" and "Power lifting" and Hatfield didn't know his story from his a$$ in the ground and thought is was all the same!
Maybe HE was intimidated by people who were actually in shape because it made him feel like the loser he was!

Shortly after I arrived to be the Sports Director at KDRV, Mark Hatfield, in his inexperience, decided to hire a fledgling named BEN BECKER to do weekends sports.
Becker was a short, nerd, wannabe who never played sports in his life and had a habit of "Picking his nose" between breaks! YIKES!!!
HATFIELD SUPPORTING MORE INCOMPETENCE
Well, Becker was a disaster too!
He was the most immature, incompetent weekend anchor I have ever seen!
As a matter of fact, the complaints to KDRV came in by the dozens from irritated viewers! I witnessed this first hand!!!
But Mark Hatfield hid them and didn't let anyone see them.
He was SUPPOSED to forward them to the GM.
But remember, Hatfield was/and is, a lying piece of crap that had his own agenda!
But Hatfield was dishonest and sneaky liar with his own agenda.
Mark Hatfield and Ben Becker were two nerds that bonded because they were losers and outcasts in life. They had Professional Wrestling in common.
And they later even had highlights of professional wrestling on his sportscasts! YIKES! What legitimate sportscast talks professional wrestling?
No wonder these two "liked" each other! What kind of grown men sit around and watch a fake sport that is full of same sex story lines?
YES, THE WRESTLING HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA WITH BECKER AND HATFIELD!
Let's be real, who makes an idol of "Gold dust" (homosexual) wrestler besides these two "wannabees" Becker and Hatfield? (BELOW) and (ABOVE).

Later, Becker talked the incompetent Hatfield into to a segment called "Ben's Big Fish." WHAT? Catching fish will get ratings? Apparently, Hatfield was okay with this nonsense?

Becker was so incompetent that at the next station he went to, that he actually was talking about black golf balls and said "Once you go black, you never go back." This is what we were talking about earlier in this article.
